The nearest golf club is Bonalba Golf & Spa which is just a couple of minutes up the road. The average annual temperarture of 18C make Bonalba an exceptional setting to play golf all year round.
There are a number of other excellent golf clubs in and around the area, notably Alicante Golf, Alenda, and El Plantio.
Alicante Golf
Designed by Seve Ballesteros and opened in 1998, Alicante Golf is a town course situated near the beach. It is considered a course for careful players due to the fact that there is lots of OB and water hazards on the course. The fairways are wide, the greens ample and straightforward with strategically placed bunkers.
Alenda Golf
The Alenda Golf Club is situated very close to the Sierra de las Aguilas mountains and the sea, and this location means it has a pleasant climate. It is an 18-hole course, with a gentle, undulating and varied round. It is very entertaining for players of all levels, and you will really need to use all of your clubs. It’s quite a quick round, as all of the holes are linked together and the walks from green to tee are short.
The greens give a special character to the course because the slopes allow for a wide variety of flag positions and you will need to visualise the break very clearly when putting and hit the ball with just the right amount of “oomph” if you want to hole out in good order.
El Plantio Golf
Situated 3 kilometres from the city of Alicante this is an urban course. It has one round of 18 holes and another one of 9, which makes it great for all players. There is also a practice course with covered tees on two levels and capacity for 120 places, an approach course, a putting green and an international golf school.
The 18-hole round has a par of 72, the 9-holer is made up of par-3’s and there is another 18-hole course in the pipeline.
The course is liberally covered with vegetation and the quality of the design and the excellent condition of the greens and fairways really stand out. The rounds are suitable to the requirements and level of all players and so it is a fantastic place for all the family.
There are a number of excellent beaches in close proximity to the villa, however if you’d like to travel a little further we would certainly recommend a trip down the coast to nearby Benidorm or Denia.
The nearest beach is at El Campello. The Paseo del Mar, or promenade, is almost 2 miles long and makes for a lovely evening stroll in the setting sun; during the day, take advantage of the beaches and sea. There is a huge choice of authentic Spanish restaurants and bars, all serving delicious meals or tapas. The El Campello Marina sits at one end of the bay, offering both a lively fish market and a selection of sumptuous restaurants.
Other nearby beaches include:
Urbanova - El Saladar Beach
Setting out from the South, we come across a long and well-equipped beach. Little known to foreign tourists, it is therefore the quietest of them all. This beach, near to El Altet airport, is officially called Playa del Saladar due to the salt pans that used to exist nearby. However, it is popularly known as Playa de Urbanova, the name of the residential complex facing it. Free from parking problems, bathers can stretch out comfortably on the sand, and enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the city and the bay of Alicante.
Postiguet Beach
Right in the city centre, and boasting a palm-lined promenade, we find Playa del Postiguet. Situated next to the leisure district at the city's marine complex, it is cleaned daily and offers a wide range of services both to bathers and visitors to the surrounding area. Development work at its northern corner, near the local station for the 'trenet', or coastal railway that runs between Alicante and Denia, has recovered the strip of beach known as Playa del Cocó, where local fishermen used to beach their boats.
San Juan Beach
With the cape's lighthouse now behind us, we come to Playa de San Juan, the most beautiful beach in the province of Alicante. San Juan beach boasts almost seven kilometres of spacious, wide beach with fine sand. The numerous shops, restaurants and other leisure establishments offer a wide range of supplementary activities including a superb 18-hole golf course just a stone's throw away. Moreover, it features all the usual community services, since Playa de San Juan has merged with the city, becoming one of its residential areas.
